Charles H. Cooley and I. B. Green
appointed as a Committe[e] on Claims.
Isaac Sasuty and Charles H. Cooley were
appointed as a Committee on County Buildings.
Isaac Saverty was excused from further
attendance upon the Sitting of the Board to
day.
Gabriel F. Brown, I. B. Green and
Isaac Saverty were appointed a Committee
on Roads and Ferry's

The Bill of I.W. Mysick Census Agent
for Yolo County for compensation for
services as Census Agent in this county
to wit Sixty four days taking census
and ten days copying presented and
referred to the Committe[e] on Claims.
The following Bills were also presented
and referred to the Committe[e] on Claims
to wit
Thoth Latham (Sheriffs fees) $124.40
H. Griffith (County Clerk) $500.-
John Van Arnam (Coroner's fees) $150.-
William Cleaseland (digging grave) $ 12.-
On Motion of Charles H. Cooley the County
clerk was directed procure all necessary
:Books for keeping a record of the proceedings
of this Board and to draw his order upon
the County Treasurer for the payment of the same
to be paid in cash.
Joshua B. Tufts and Jacob S. Sevis
presented an application for a license to
own a ferry across the Tule on the

Tuesday March 8th A.D. 1853
Board met at 9 oclock A.M.pursuant
to adjournment present as yesterday
Gabriel F. Brown this day appeared
and took his seat as a member of the Board.
The Committe[e] on claims reported in favor of
allowing the Bill of John Van Arnam as
Coroner and of Thoth Sathasso for Sheriffs
fees in full. Also reported that the Bill of
William Cleaseland for digging grave be
reduced to Seven Dollars ($7.00) and so allowed
Also that the Bill of I.W. Mysick as Census Agent
be reduced to one Thousand Dollars and so
allowed also that the Bill of H. Griffth for
Services as County Clerk be laid over for further
consideration.
Committe[e] also reported advising that
the note of Decatue Stratton given to the Coroner
of Yolo County be placed in the hands of the
District Attorney for immediate collection.
The bill of Isaac Davis a associate
Justice was presented for $54.00
also the Bill of P. S. Edwards for
attorney fees $100.00
each referred to the Committe[e] on
claims
On Motion it was ordered that all Bills
coming before this Board be presented to the
Committe[e] on claims.

Ordered that the Bill of Thoth Sathasso

Clerk be allowed to the extent of $400.00
Ordered that the Bill of John Van Arnam
Coroner be allowed to the amount of $150.00

Ordered that the Note given by Decatue
Stratton to John Van Arnam Coroner
payable to Yolo County be placed in
the hands of the District Attorney for immediate
Collection.
The Petition of James Nor for a reduction
of taxes was presented and considered.
On Motion of Isaac Saverty it is ordered
that the [evaluation?] upon the [trast] of Board in
question be ordered to Ten Thousand Dollars.
Judge H. H. Hartley presented on behalf of
himself as late County Treasurer and also
on behalf of the present County Treasurer
Alex Chisholm an exhibit of the financial
affairs of Yolo County from its first
organization until the present time

The Clerk do contract with Daily California
to publish the same and procure one hundred
copies of the paper provided the same can be done
at an expense not exceeding twenty five dollars.
Dr. Emo C. Taylor presented on behalf of himself
and wife a demand for the delivery of the
[popission ?] of the Town Hall, now used as a
Court House and offices.
Ordered to be laid on the table.
The Committe[e] on Roads and Ferry's was
instructed to report upon some feasible plan for
dividing the County into Road Districts. A[essignatiy]
the same.
On Motion of Charles H. Cooley. Gabriel F. Brown
was appointed a Committe[e] to report upon the expense
of procuring furniture necessary for the Court House.
Board then adjourned until tomorrow at
9 oclock A.M.

Board met present as Yesterday
Committe[e] on Claims reported the bill of Isaac
Davis as associate Justice as correct and
[recommand] that it be allowed in full. Also
the Bill of Phil. L. Edwards for Atty fees.
Committe[e] also reported to reject the bill of
Alex [initial] Chisholm County Treasurer for office
sent as not coming under the Jurisdiction
of this Board. And that the Bill of I.W.
Mynick as a[xxxxx] be continued for further
consideration to the next meeting of this Board.
It was then ordered that the bill of Isaac
Davis for $54.00 as associate Justice be
allowed in full.
Ordered that the Bill of Phil S. Edwards
for Attorney fees $100.00 be allowed in full.
Ordered that the Bill of Alex Chisholm for
Office work as County Treasurer be rejected
as not under the Jurisdiction of the Board.
Ordered that the Bill of I. W. Mynick a[??????]
for [Suppumental] [apip]ment be continued
till next Meeting for consideration.
Committee on Roads [??????] report in favor of
granting I.B. Tufts & Jacob S. Lewis a
renewal of their License a cross the Tule
on the west from Cache & Putah Creek to
Washington upon such time as the law
may direct.

Committe[e] also reported in favor of dividing
the County into Road Districts.
Report of said Committe[e] coming under consideration
It is ordered that a renewal of their license do
issue to Misters I.B. Tufts and Jacob S. Lewis
across the Tule on the west from Cache and
Putah Creek to Washington under the same [????]
and [???????] as one established by the Court
of Sessions for last Year.
Ordered that the road leaving from Washington
twelve miles down the Sacramento River be
districted as follows to wit
From Harriet Street in the town of Washington to
the town line of William B. Brown[']s old claim
first district. H. Griffith to be [each?] Supervisor
From the said lower line of William B. Brown[']s
old claim to Babels Slough crossing the same [the]
[keo]nd district John Adamson to be Supervisor.
Ordered that H. Griffith be directed to purchase
three tables, four Benches, and twelve chairs for
the use of the Court Home, at a cost not to
exceed one hundred and twelve Dollars and
That he be authorized to draw on the County
Treasurer for the further cost of the same to be
paid in cash.
Ordered that the Bill of H. Griffith for 3 cords of
wood at $16.00 per cord be allowed.
Ordered that the Bill of H. Griffith for services as
Clerk of the Board of Supervisors be postponed
to the next meeting of this Board.

Tresurer's Office
Ordered that the County Treasurer
be authorized to occupy a position of this
County Clerk's Office for the purpose of a Treasurer
Office, and that he be authorized to precure
furniture for the same at a cost of not
to exceed the sum of twenty five dollars
And that he charge the same in his af[fi]ce with
the County.
County Assessor
Ordered that the County Assessor
be and he heerby is requested to begin the
Assessment of this year taxes immediately
and to complete the same as speedily as
possible as delay herein will be seriously
detrimental to the County.
Ordered that the Auditor be ^[insertion mark] and hereby is directed to audit
all the Of[fi]ce allowed by this Board.
Ordered that the Auditor audit the Of[fi]ce of Isaac

a county road from
the Ferry Landing to
Sixth Street as Laid out
On the map of the town of
Washington [flourish end]
It is ordered by
the Board of Supervisors of Yolo county
after considering the petition herein presented
and after hearing arguments for and against
that the Street laid out and known on
the plot of the Town of Washington Yolo
County as Harriet Street be and the
Home hereby is declared a county road
from the Ferry landing at the junction
of said street with Front Street in the
said town to Sixth Street as laid down
on said map or plot as aforesaid
thence down Sixth Street to the intersection
with Margaret Street as laid down on
said map as aforesaid.
It is also further ordered by the
Board that the Supervisor for the [?????]
road district do cause the same to
be assessed and such in as good a
condition for traveling as possible at the
earliest practicable time.

by the Board of Supervisors of Yolo county
after considering the above petition that
David P. Diggs and Isaac Saverty be
and they hereby are appointed Commis-
sioners to act in connection with Charles
F. Reed County Surveyor to lay out
and locate a county road from Knights
Landing to the crossing of Cache Creek and
thence on the nearest and best [???]to to
Wolfskills crossing of Puta[h].
It is also ordered that said
commissioners do make then report
on or before the first Monday of July next.
In re[gard] the Petition for a[large flourish]

the hill to the crossing of
Cache Creek thence to the

It is Or-
dered by the Board of Supervisors of Yolo
County after considering the above Petition
that Mr. G Belshe and William S. Ryan
and they are hereby appointed Commission-
ers to act in connection with Charles
F. Reed County Surveyor to access out

ington across the hill to the crossing of
Cache Creek thence to the lone tree thence
on tow[???] Colusa to the northern line of
the county. Also ordered that they do make
then a report on or before the first Monday of

considered upon and decided ~
Three approved the Report of the
Commissioners and a Remonstrance
of certain Citizens against Such Loc-
ation.
Matter being fully considered and
decided upon and the Board being
fully advised in the Premices
It is Ordered.
That the Report of the
Commissioners do stand adopted and
accepted and that the Said Road be
and hereby is declared permanently
located as a County Road as follows
to wit.
Commencing at a Small Cottonwood
tree Situated about 100 yards East from
the point where the Ja[?]ing fence of Chas
F. Reed Strikes the Sacramento River from
thence running S. 13° 45' W. 30 chains
to a point midway the House and fence
of S. R Smith thence S. 20° W. 31 chains
thence S. 46 W. 41 chains 45 links the same

Road Commissioners appointed
by the Board of Supervisors to
survey and Locate a Road from
Washington across the Tule to the
crossing of Cache Creek thence
to the Colusa Lines[end flourish]
Now
this day comes the Report of the
Commissioners appointed to Survey and
Locate Said Road to be considered and
decided upon.
Whereupon the Board being
duly advised in the Premices
It is Ordered
That the Report of said Com-
missioners do stand adopted so far as
shall appear in the description of the Road
following - and that Said Road do Stand
permanently located and declared a
County Road as follows to wit.
Beginning
at the Intersection of Sixth Street (as laid
out in the Plat of the Town of Washington)
with Margaret Street thence run to what is
familiarly known as the old Tule Stand
estimated about Six[over written with an X] 6 miles course
S. 84° W. to a Stake from thence N S 7° W
to a point 50 feet Northerly of the House of
Mr Ryon known as the "Slough House"
distanced 400 chains or 5 miles - From
the Slough N. 741/4° W 250 chains to a
Stake near the ditch of one Scott Thence

N 841/2° W to a point 30 feet Easterly

chains. Thence N 751/4° W 232 chains
to the west side of a ditch and fences
of one Boyle - Thence N. 41° W 40
chains to an Oak on Bank of
Cache Creek opposite the House of the
Diggs, the Same crossing being the one

to Puta[h] thence across the creek 2

corner of a field owned by one Milsap
